When Prius says empty, it's EMPTY!!

I've run out of gas within 1 mile of the light coming on. This has happened twice in the year and a half that I've owned it. Both times, I figured that I had some reserve. I was wrong. Within a mile, or once, in less than one block, I was empty. Luckily, the electric motor, with the help of some passers-by who pushed the car, carried into the nearest gas station. It was, of course, the most expensive in the area.

I find that I have 2 gallons left in my car when I get hit with the empty light, and seeing as I average, according to the display, about 50 miles per gallon, I get about 100 miles out of mine. Due to speed fluctuation, though, I'd put it more at 80 miles. March 8, 2011 by Robert I agree with the author, when the Prius says empty - it is empty.
